In Liverpool we’ve got a dry bar called The Brink. It serves no alcohol and is part of Action on Addiction. The Brink runs lots of projects to support people in recovery, and although I am a wine lover I still find it a nice fun place to go.
Andy went on a Christmas meal there with colleagues a couple of weeks back. In fact the two if us eat there a LOT.
The staff and customers are always smiling, and they make the best chips ever. And it’s hassle free.
On Saturday The Brink had a local up and coming MUA Alison Clare doing make up, nails and hair. I went along and had myself ‘done’:

(We both blinked in this pic but it’s just so smiley, it summed up the afternoon)
Alison and I had such a laugh. I’ll be writing more about what Alison did to me for Hello! Online in January.
In further girly fashion news (sorry chaps), I needed new boots. I wanted ones to help me through the winter.
I found some I liked. In the shop, I thought oh, cool – they’re rubbery-plastic, will keep the rain out, nice and dry, and good thick soles. And they were in the pre-Chrimbo sale.

When I got them home, I realised, if they reached the knee they’d not be that different from wellington boots….oh my god, they’re urban wellies!
I don’t care though, I’m staying dry.
Just right for frigging urban weather!
Actually, you might be onto something there
